Quickstart

Build the preview

Prepare Rust, Cargo, and Git as described in Installation, then run:

git clone https://github.com/TokenDanceLab/tokendance-code.git
cd tokendance-code
cargo build --locked -p tokendance-cli
cargo run --locked -p tokendance-cli -- --version
cargo run --locked -p tokendance-cli -- doctor --json

The current version is 0.3.0-rs.0. doctor reports the Rust runtime and the built-in mock provider. It is not a live provider connectivity or credential test.

Run without an API key

cargo run --locked -p tokendance-cli -- run --json "hello"
cargo run --locked -p tokendance-cli -- sessions list --json
cargo run --locked -p tokendance-cli -- transcript search "hello" --json

The first command returns a result containing finalResponse: "mock response: hello". The other commands inspect records under .tokendance-rs/ in the current working directory.

Put --json before the prompt. Text after the first prompt argument is part of the prompt, so run "hello" --json does not select JSON output.

Try an interactive session

cargo run --locked -p tokendance-cli

Enter hello, then /status, /help, or /exit. These sessions use the same simulated provider. /compact and /model are placeholders in this preview.

Next steps

Use the CLI reference to inspect command options. To work on real model integration, start with the provider library. Setting an API key alone does not switch the current CLI away from the simulated provider.
