Installation
Requirements
Install Git and a current stable Rust toolchain with Cargo and support for Rust edition 2024. Your platform also needs a working native linker; on Windows, use the Rust toolchain’s matching C++ build tools.
Node.js and pnpm are not required for the direct Cargo commands below. Repository JavaScript helpers and the npm wrapper use Node.js 20.18+ and the pnpm version declared in package.json.
Build from source
git clone https://github.com/TokenDanceLab/tokendance-code.git
cd tokendance-code
cargo build --locked -p tokendance-cli
cargo run --locked -p tokendance-cli -- --version
Cargo creates a binary named tokendance (tokendance.exe on Windows) in target/debug/. Building it does not automatically add a global tokendance command to your shell. Keep using cargo run -p tokendance-cli -- ... from the repository, or invoke the built binary by its path.
Optional shell command
To install the binary into your Cargo binary directory:
cargo install --locked --path crates/tokendance-cli
tokendance --help
Your Cargo binary directory must be on PATH. This is a local source install, separate from an npm release.
npm package status
The @tokendance/code-cli wrapper expects a locally built Rust binary or a platform-specific native package. It does not fall back to the old TypeScript implementation.
No public npm version or GitHub release was available when this guide was checked on October 22, 2026. Follow Development status before choosing a release channel; use the source build above for this preview.
