CLI reference
The commands below describe the Rust preview. If you have not installed the local binary, replace tokendance with cargo run --locked -p tokendance-cli -- from the source repository.
Conversation and output
tokendance --help
tokendance
tokendance run --json "hello"
tokendance run --stream-json "hello"
| Command | Current behavior |
|---|---|
tokendance | Open an interactive session using the simulated provider |
tokendance --continue | Open the latest local session identifier in interactive mode |
tokendance run "<prompt>" | Return a simulated response and write a local session record |
tokendance run --json "<prompt>" | Return the result and events as one JSON object |
tokendance run --stream-json "<prompt>" | Write event records and a terminal result as JSONL |
Output flags must come before the prompt. Use run -- --json if the prompt itself starts with --json. --json and --stream-json cannot be combined.
Interactive commands include /help, /status, /exit, and /quit. /compact and /model currently report not yet implemented.
Diagnostics and configuration
tokendance doctor --json
tokendance config validate --project . --json
| Command | Current behavior |
|---|---|
doctor [--json] | Report version, Rust runtime, and the default mock provider |
config validate [--project <path>] [--json] | Load settings and validate supported values; invalid settings return a nonzero exit code |
quality | Print a diagnostic summary; this does not run tests or a user-supplied command |
doctor does not probe model connectivity. The test counts printed by quality are static text, so run Cargo tests for current test results.
Sessions and transcripts
tokendance sessions list --json
tokendance sessions show SESSION_ID --events
tokendance transcript search "hello" --json
| Command | Current behavior |
|---|---|
sessions or sessions list [--json] | List sessions under the current directory’s .tokendance-rs/sessions/ |
sessions show <id> [--events] | Inspect local session metadata and optionally event summaries |
transcript search <query> [--sessions-dir <path>] [--json] | Search transcript lines by case-insensitive text |
Run these commands from the same working directory as the session you want to inspect. --continue reuses a session identifier; it should not be treated as a guarantee of complete prior-context restoration.
Preview boundaries
gateway init --model <name> currently prints setup guidance without writing a preset. auth tokendanceid login-url is a historical placeholder and is not the TokenDance Account integration flow.
The old quickstart, config path, config set, resume <id>, transcript export, diff, review, tasks, tools, and worktree top-level commands are not registered in this Rust CLI. Check --help on the binary you actually use rather than transferring the old TypeScript command list.
